We were expecting to close this blog on 6th May 2010, along with the election, but, since the election hasn't ended yet, neither will the blog. May as well add a few points!
Glad about the agreeing; not sure what you mean about tax breaks for people who grow things.
But that gives me an idea.
I'm putting these same suggestions on Twitter so they all have to be 140 characters or less. It's a wonderful discipline.
(I think the people who set up Twitter must have put a lot of research into the 140 character rule because it's amazing how much can be expressed in such a short space.)
What about having 'guest' Manifesto points? The suggested manifesto pledge would have to be within Tweet length (140 characters) with an explanation of why it would be a good thing for the nation in a double Tweet (280 letters).
Would you be up for putting your idea about tax and growing into such a format?
If so, email it to me and I'll put it on the blog.
Lucy and Esther, These are all great ideas, and I think you should *both* be running for office. If I were in the UK, I'd not only vote for you, I'd campaign as well. I think, having been born there, I might actually qualify to vote...
I think I'll leave the actual MP ing to others however . . .
One of the difficulties in deciding who to vote for is that some things we agree with are shared out between the parties - and many we don't like are too.
But another major difficulty is that, even taken together, manifestos never include all the policies I'd like to see. Hence this Manifesto - a sort of Manifesto of the gaps. Politicians who would like to take up any of these policies and present them as their own and put them into practice are very welcome to do so!

Agree with everything so far! What about tax breaks for people who grow things?
